Stephen M. Goodman Inspires Award for Most Valued Company

Stephen M. Goodman, a young Philadelphia lawyer, began representing emerging companies in 1969.  At that time, law firms and the banking industry largely dismissed the start-up sector. Mr. Goodman believed in encouraging entrepreneurs and the importance of developing innovation.  He understood that economic growth and innovation in this region would be accelerated by fostering early-stage businesses.

Over the course of his prestigious career at Morgan Lewis and in creating the Philadelphia Angel Venture Fair, Mr. Goodman was nicknamed the Godfather of Philadelphia Startups.  It is in the spirit of Mr. Goodman’s vision and keen skills with emerging businesses that Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic named our Most Valued Company recognition of Mr. Stephen M. Goodman.

The four-chapter Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic Region is part of the world’s largest and most active investment community of early-stage angel investors, Keiretsu Forum. The group’s mindshare approach to investing gained recognition and commitment from investors who want to feel more empowered, hands-on and have collective due diligence applied to their investments.

On Wednesday, October 17, 2018, Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic will host the 6th Annual Angel Capital Expo at the Philadelphia Union League.   Angel Capital Expo provides a unique format for invited investors and breakthrough startups to converge in meaningful conversations, education, and exchange.  Up to twelve presentations from Series A-B Round entrepreneurs will be evaluated by over 250 accredited angel investors, partners, and sponsors.  Only one presenter will be selected as the Stephen M. Goodman Most Valued Company.

In 2017, INDIGO Biosciences was the recipient of this honor.  "The Angel Capital Expo provided INDIGO with a national forum to present the value of the Company.   As the 2017 Goodman Most Valued Company recipient, INDIGO secured over $600,000 in investments from Keiretsu Mid-Atlantic and other angels who attended the event.  The Company surpassed its capital fundraise target because of the Angel Capital Expo!" -Fred Marroni, CEO INDIGO Biosciences,
