Howard Lubert, Area President – Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic

Mr. Lubert co-founded the Mid-Atlantic Region in 2010.  After 25 years in the private equity space he recognized the unique features of the Keiretsu Forum process and model and sought out Randy Williams to explore opening chapters on the East Coast.  Randy introduced him to Vince Leusner who was also contimplating a Philadelphia Chapter and they opened the first Mid-Atlanitc Chapter in Philadelphia in March, 2011. 

He is the Founder and Managing Partner/Senior Analyst at SafeHatch LLC, a business acceleration and corporate advisory services consultancy that supports startup and early stage technology companies.  Mr. Lubert spun SafeHatch out of Safeguard Scientifics in 2000 after the implosion.  The Company typically takes senior management role(s) in the portfolio companies it supports and works with them until they are prepared to complete their management teams with full-time employees.  Business Acceleration services are provided for companies in many disciplines, but are usually focused in the Internet, e-business, security, SaaS, infrastructure, software, e-learning, mobile or wireless spheres.

Mr. Lubert became the Managing Director of the Rowan University Innovation Venture Fund (RIVF)in Novmber of 2014.  RIVF is an Evergreen Fund designed to support the entrepreneurial and innovation initiatives on the Rowan University campuses as well as the South Jersey area.  The Fund has invested $2m in 5 portfolio companies to date and syndicates deals too large for the Fund first with Keiretsu Forum and then other area angel groups.

Mr. Lubert brings 33 years of formalizing and optimizing the due diligence and deal flow processes for various venture capital funds including Safeguard Scientifics and its family of private equity funds, as well as other angel investment groups to Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic.  Lubert was also senior manager at Deloitte & Touche, where he played a principal role in the development of the e-business consulting practice.  He is a renowed Term Sheet creator and negotiator and takes on this role in every due diligence project in the Mid-Atlantic and South-East Regions.

Colleen Bevenour, Area Vice President – Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic  

Colleen joined the Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic management team in April, 2017 as Regional Vice President.  Colleen is CEO of Synchron8, a firm working with both Fortune 500 companies and early stage and growth companies.  Colleen’s corporate work spans nearly 30 years and is focused on strategic planning and execution enablement for global life sciences companies.  She spent the early part of her career in varying commercial roles at GSK.

She has worked with numerous early stage and growth companies on business modelling, sales and marketing go-to-market strategy, and scaling.  She leads the Synchron8 Alliance, a collaborative team of experts in marketing, finance, and executive development who drive success for growth stage companies.  Colleen is a business consultant to the Rowan Innovation Venture Fund, helping to fuel high-quality deal flow and prepare CEOs to pitch potential investors.

She is the Chairperson, South Jersey Business Institute, an organization seeking to advance the business, ecosystem in the Greater Philadelphia area.  Collen is a speaker on strategy, execution and entrepreneurialism, and author of INSIGHTS TO ACTION: A Field Guide for Identifying and Solving the Most Common Problems that Derail Organizations.

Bill Farran, Area Vice President – Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic    

Bill practices business law in Philadelphia, and is also Co-Principal and Chief Legal Officer of Cape Cod Consulting Company, a business consultancy offering executive development, executive coaching and enterprise risk management services.  He is an accredited investor and strategic and financial advisor to a family office start-up business.  Bill has more than 30 years’ experience as a business lawyer for global specialty chemical manufacturers, most recently as Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary for Innophos Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: IPHS), which until its IPO was a Bain Capital portfolio company.  Over his career, in addition to the full complement of board governance, transactional, compliance and corporate legal work for global publicly-traded companies, he has led numerous merger and acquisition negotiations and due diligence efforts.  He also led the public affairs, communications and quality management functions.  Bill is admitted to practice law before the bars of the Supreme Court of the United States and the Supreme Court of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  Bill earned his J.D. from Case Western Reserve and his B.S. Economics from The Wharton School.  Bill is a member of the American Bar Association, the Union League of Philadelphia, Broad Street Angels and Philadelphia Cricket Club.  He received the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award from NJ business periodical publisher NJBIZ, and their 2012 General Counsel of the Year Award for Public Companies.
